Looking for the best fish tacos on Maui? Hopefully this guide will point you in the right direction! Maui has some great spots to experience fish tacos in all their glory. This post is a list of some of my favorite spots on the island!
I’m always in search of the best seafood dishes, especially on Maui. Growing up on the island meant having a great introduction to a variety of different fish dishes, but there’s always one dish that I never hesitate to eat – tacos! So, I’ve made it a mini mission to endeavor to find Maui’s best fish tacos.
Here’s a list of some of my favorite places on Maui to grab a fish taco. There are so many more restaurants and food trucks I’d like to experience to be able to add on to this in the future! So many tacos to eat, so little time…

My vote for favorite fish taco goes to South Maui Fish Co., one of the highest rated spots on the island. Not only is their staff super friendly and inviting, but their food is bomb!
The fish of the day for the tacos will change daily (when we visited, it was ahi), which is awesome because you know they are trying to provide you the freshest fish possible!
South Maui’s fish tacos are served grilled in corn tortillas with a spicy aioli and coconut pineapple slaw, and topped with another sauce (can’t tell you what’s in that one, but it was good). I don’t typically get anything with mayo on my food since it’s kind of my arch nemesis, but in this case, I didn’t want the taco to be too dry so I went with it and it was super tasty!

They may be a little pricey, but you do get some pretty generous portions of fish in these tacos. If available, I also recommend the smoked marlin dip!
Try to get there as early as you can, as they can sell out of fish and pack up for the day earlier than expected.
Paia Fish Market to me is one of the “OGs” of fish tacos on Maui, which is why it was surprising that I hadn’t made the time to actually get here until 2023! Lines were always out the door at their Paia location and for good reason – their fish dishes are delicious!
To keep things focused on the tacos during our visit, we tried tacos with both ono and snapper. Both were really good, though the snapper won me over just a bit more! The freshly cooked fish is served in corn tortillas along with melted cheese, lettuce, and tomato with a side of lemon.
I appreciate the simplicity of their tacos and the ingredients really allow the fish to shine!
Spoon and key has my vote for second favorite fish tacos on the island. Their market fish tacos are served with a locally-caught, fresh fish of the day (mine was ahi)! Handmade blue corn tacos serve as the vessel and are topped with avocado, radish, salsa, and a cumin aioli.
The tortillas make these tacos one of the most unique fish taco dishes on the island, and you can sit either in their dining room or patio with views of Molokini to enjoy them.
Milagros’ mahi mahi fish tacos have always been one of my favorite contenders for fish tacos on Maui. The fish is always cooked nicely and the tacos are nice and juicy (i.e. not dry and overcooked). You also get a nice side of rice and beans with your meal!
Since it’s a sit down restaurant, there’s also a good chance you might be swayed to ordering one of their delicious margaritas (my favorite is the Li Hing Mui).
Fish tacos at South Shore Tiki Bar were never on my agenda, but they were a welcome surprise! Not only is South Shore Tiki a great place to hang out and get some cocktails, they also have some tasty food too.
We ordered our fish tacos grilled (fish selection that day was mahi mahi), which came served in flour tortillas with cabbage, salsa, sour cream, and lime. The tortillas could have been a little softer, but the fish was seasoned well and I was happy with our order overall. I also love that their fish tacos come with sour cream instead of an aioli as I’m not a big mayonnaise fan!
Pair your tacos with a Mai Tai and you’ll be a happy camper here!
Ono Tacos

Ono Tacos is a more authentic Mexican food truck located in Kahului (formerly in Lahaina). The flavor of their fish tacos is excellent and they have some really good salsas to choose from to add to your tacos (as any good taco truck would)! The important question we forgot to ask was what kind of fish they were using in their tacos. If I had to guess, I’d say it was ono.

The fish tacos at Ono Tacos come topped with fresh cabbage and either a sour cream or mayo aioli (it tasted more sour cream like to me, but sometimes it’s hard to tell!). You can also get a side of onions and cilantro from their salsa bar to add an extra kick.
Lahaina Brew Co. – Wailea
Website | 110 Wailea Ike Dr, Kihei, HI 96753
If you love hearty mahi mahi, get yourself to Lahaina Brew Co. in Wailea for their fish tacos! The mahi mahi is blackened, full of flavor and served in corn tortillas with a chili mayo, guacamole, and refreshing pico de gallo salsa.
If ever there was a great meal to pair with a beer in a taproom, this would be it!
